The Final Exams of Engineering in Mumbai University were scheduled from 7th May to 22nd May. Just before a month of the exam, the authorities announced that the 4-day gap between each paper will be reduced to 1-day. The university also directed to start the internship program by 25th May. The decision faced a major backlash from the students of the university as students had planned to study as per the schedule they had previously made for the 4-day gap. The students voiced their concerns to the University authorities and an online petition was made to protest against the decision taken by the University regarding the examination rescheduling.

On Wednesday, the university issued a notice where they explained the reasons behind the rescheduling. The college said that the students have to appear for a 45-month internship as prescribed by AICTE. The University authorities stated that the 1-month long duration of the examinations causes a delay in the paper checking and result process. It also said the decision is to begin the internship earlier that the scheduled timing.
However, considering the negative response of the students, the university later decided not to go ahead with the schedule now. But, the same may be implemented from the next academic year (2019-2020).
