The University of Mumbai might soon come up with its first foreign campus in the United States. The university will conduct talks with the US in order to start global academic programmes. Vice Chancellor Sanjay Deshmukh said that a world tour will be started in 2017 to explore the overseas options and get permissions to start campuses abroad.

Addressing the graduating students on the convocation ceremony, the VC also informed that they will begin the world tour from the United States. The university is also looking forward to partner with existing universities to hold ground in other countries.
The VC also said that they might join hands with eminent Indians who are working overseas for degree courses. Talking about the courses, the VC said that Indian students will be offered courses in the abroad campus with similar fees as is charged in India however, Indian students residing abroad will be charged according to international standards.
Apart from US, the world tour will also cover countries like Australia, Israel and Europe. Mumbai University will be the first to connect with over 750 affiliated colleges through a digital medium and the students will be able to enjoy free WiFi, added the VC.

Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of RIL, was the honorary Chief Guest at the convocation ceremony of the university. Talking about the importance of technologies, Ambani said that there are a lot of business opportunities that are now possible just because of the advancement in technology. He encouraged the students to endorse equitable development.
