After the decision to go ahead with ‘On Screen Assessment’ process for the upcoming exams, the University of Mumbai is going to conduct training for teachers and principals of affiliated colleges. The training is compulsory for all the teachers who have been assigned the task to assess the answer sheets for the winter semester exams. The training is set to begin from November 10, 2017.
According to the detailed plan framed by the varsity, the examiners in Mumbai and suburban Mumbai will be trained at the Fort campus. Workshops will be conducted by the varsity at areas around the city for examiners based in Jawahar, Wada, Palghar, Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri. Acting Vice-Chancellor of Mumbai University, Mr. Devanand Shinde and Acting Director of Examinations and Evaluation, Mr. Arjun Ghatule will conduct the training programme.

As per the master list prepared by the University of Mumbai, over 14,000 evaluators are eligible for the ‘On Screen Assessment’ for winter exams. An official circular issued by the varsity mandated all the teachers on the list to undergo the training.
Even though Mumbai University introduced ‘On Screen Assessment System’ in April 2017, teachers are being officially trained for the first time from November 10, 2017. The teachers will be trained on using the software.

An official associated with the Mass Media Department at the University of Mumbai expressed that the training is much needed for the teachers in the current situation. In April 2017, teachers were only given partial training that led to chaos and delay in announcing results.
