NASSCOM and IIT Madras have collaborated for skill development of students and employees in IT (Information Technology) sector and IT-enabled Services (ITeS). The main objective of the collaboration is to produce a capable workforce to support the industry and other stakeholders.
NASSCOM has collaborated with IIT Madras as a part of its FutureSkills Platform, which is targeted at upskilling or reskilling four million people from the IT sector. The skill development programme in IT-ITeS is a great help to freshers joining the IT industry. Employees working in various government organisations and other industries need skill development to learn the digital skills of the future.

CEO of IT-ITeS Sector Skills Council, Mr. Amit Agarwal revealed that the MoU between NASSCOM and IIT Madras would be an important catalyst for the IT-ITeS industry’s FutureSkills initiative . The target is to make India a global destination for talent for the new emerging technologies such as Big Data, Blockchain, Cyber Security, Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), he added.

Skill development in the IT sector is an essential task in the current scenario due to emerging technologies. As AI, IoT, Big Data etc. are going to dominate the IT sector in the coming years, skill development in these fields is essential to building workforce. India will soon emerge as a global hub for these technologies, as the major emphasis is being given to these technologies by government, premier institutes like IITs etc.
