On the occasion of National Science Day on 28 February, 2017, several universities and institutes across the nation observed the day with a plethora of activities.
National Science Day Celebrated in Universities & Colleges Across India

On the occasion of National Science Day which is celebrated on 28th February 2017, several universities and institutes across the country observed the day with a plethora of activities. The day marks the discovery of the Raman Effect by reputed Indian Scientist Sri CV Raman in the year 1928.

National Science Day at IISER Pune:

The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Pune , better known as IISER organised a public lecture on "Search For Extraterrestrial Life" at Sir CV Raman Auditorium of IISER.

The lecture was delivered by Dr. Sujan K Sengupta who is a professor at Indian Institute of Astrophysics. In his speech, he described the ambiguity and limitations of scientists' current understanding of planets, the main methods of finding out the planets existing outside the solar system and the present status of the search for habitable planets like Earth.

National Science Day at Punjabi University Patiala:

National Science Day was celebrated at Punjabi University Patiala in the science auditorium of the university on Tuesday, 28th February 2017, which was attended by students, research scholars, teachers. The theme of the event was "Technology for the Differently-Abled Persons" which focused on how to use different tools and gadgets for these class of people to bring into the mainstream of the society by finding out their hidden potentials and skills.

National Science Day at the Central University of Kashmir:

To mark the occasion, a seminar was held on the theme of ‘Science and Technology for specially-abled persons at the campus of Central University of Kashmir. Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj-ud-Din Mir, presided over the function. Science should serve the humanity, instead of destroying the civilisation, said the VC in his address.

National Science Day Celebrated at GZSCCET:

The day was celebrated at Giani Zail Singh Campus College of Engineering and Technology or GZSCCET in Bhatinda . The theme of the day was ‘Science and technology for specially-abled persons’. The director of the institute delivered his welcome speech and stressed on the importance of the day in everyone's life.
