NEET 2024 Results Controversy:
The National Testing Agency has been in the limelight since the NEET result 2024 announcement on June 4. Firstly, the grace marks policy of NTA resulted in many candidates scoring AIR 1 in the exam. A total number of 67 candidates scored 720 out of 720 marks in the NEET exam. Petitions were already filed in
Calcutta HC
,
Delhi HC
and the
Supreme Court
against the injustice that happened to lakhs of aspirants. Responding to controversies on the NEET results 2024, NTA organised a press conference on June 8.
In its press conference, NTA clarified that NEET question paper 2024 was not leaked and the grace marks were awarded to students due to the revision of answers for one question in the Physics section of the R5 question paper. Almost
1,500 students
benefited from these grace marks. On the other hand, the award of grace marks further increased the number of candidates scoring AIR 1 in the exam. On the other hand, students and parents raised doubts about the ranks of six candidates who appeared for the NEET exam in the same centre and secured AIR 1.
Students and parents across the country indicated that a huge scam happened in the NEET 2024 exam because of which there are
huge differences in the NEET marks vs rank 2024
. NTA now formed a high-level committee to review the representations received from almost 1600 students and review the results of more than 1500 students. The committee is expected to submit its report within a week.
On the other hand, the High Court of Delhi will take up its second hearing on the NEET grace marks issue, and the NTA was asked to submit its response during the first hearing that took place on June 7.
