NEET 2025 in CBT Mode: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is planning significant modifications for NEET 2025 examination following recommendations from a specialized committee. The modification aims to modernize the testing procedure and offer medical aspirants a more adaptable experience. This seven-member group, headed by former Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chief K. Radhakrishnan, has proposed a revised NEET 2025 examination format. The official NEET 2025 exam date is yet to be declared by the authorities at the official website - neet.nta.nic.in . If conducting a fully online exam is not feasible, the committee recommends providing the question paper digitally while students write their answers on paper.
To enhance the examination process, the committee also suggests that NEET 2025 be conducted in two stages, similar to the JEE Main examination. This recommendation follows challenges faced during the NEET 2024 exam, including paper leaks and organizational issues that affected the exam's integrity. Dividing NEET 2025 into two stages could assist the NTA in better managing logistics and alleviating anxiety for candidates, who often experience significant stress during high-stakes tests. The suggested modifications for NEET 2025 aim to enhance the efficiency, fairness, and support for students in India aspiring to pursue a medical career.
Furthermore, the committee recommends limiting the number of attempts a student can make for the NEET. Currently, there are no restrictions, which raises concerns about students' long-term preparation and resource usage. The panel believes setting a cap will motivate candidates to take their studies seriously and prepare effectively. However, this proposal has sparked discussions about fairness and accessibility, particularly in light of the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has reached out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting an additional attempt for students impacted by the pandemic, emphasizing the importance of compassion during these times.
