The National Testing Agency is planning to organise the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) twice a year. NTA Director, Vineet Joshi informed about the same and said that as of now the planning is at the initial stage and NTA will approve once they get an approval from the Ministry of Health.
NTA May Conduct NEET Twice a Year from 2021
Vineet Joshi said that they have been receiving a lot of communications from the students and teachers. Therefore, they are planning to conduct it twice a year like JEE Main.
The idea to conduct these two entrance exams twice a year will give an opportunity for students to bring out their best performance. The central government is setting up National Testing Agency (NTA) , an independent and premier testing organisation, which will take the responsibility of organising these entrance exams. With the setting up of NTA, CBSE will be relieved from conducting NEET and JEE exams.
According to the plan, NTA will initially conduct those exams that are currently being conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education. Exams like JEE and NEET will be conducted at least twice a year in online mode. Apart from JEE and NEET, UGC NET and CMAT are also going to be conducted twice a year from 2019.

Earlier, CBSE informed HRD Ministry expressing its inability to conduct UGC NET twice a year. CBSE felt that it was not able to concentrate on core objectives due to other responsibilities like holding exams for various bodies. CBSE also claimed that conducting different exams is draining away the resources of the board. Therefore, the HRD Ministry has come with an alternative measure, i.e., constituting NTA.
