NEET PG Result Controversy 2024 September 20: The NEET PG 2024 exam has been disfigured by delays and controversies, leading to a legal challenge in the Supreme Court of India. Concerns about transparency, alleged paper leaks, and score discrepancies have prompted petitioners to demand the release of answer keys and clarification on result normalisation. The first hearing on the same took place on September 13 and after the Supreme Court issued a notice to demanding answer keys from the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), the matter taken on September 20. The delay in counselling schedules has added to the uncertainty among candidates, prompting the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) to introduce changes in the process.

  • The petition sought increased transparency and upon hearing the case, the Supreme Court has expressed displeasure over the last-minute changes in the exam pattern of NEET PG 2024.

  • Petitioners' lawyer, Senior Advocate Vibha Makhija, called the introduction of a new exam pattern 3 days before the exam as a knee-jerk reaction.

  • CJI raised concerns on the same and asked NBE counsel why the examination pattern was changed 3 days before. CJI DY Chandrachud said, "They are saying you have not framed regulations, everything goes by the brochure and three days before the exam, the entire pattern of the exam is changed how can you do all this?"

  • NBE counsel responded that it is not unusual to change examination pattern, to which CJI replied, "It is very unusual. Students will have a meltdown if the exam pattern is changed three days before."

  • CJI then directed the NBE counsel to file their counter within a week.

  • The matter will now be taken on September 27, 2024.
