The High Court of Punjab and Haryana also clarified that the candidates must have attained at least 17 years of age to take part in the medical admission process. Earlier, a plea was filed on behalf of his minor son challenging the age criterion to participate in NEET. The petitioner further claimed that Indian Medical Council Act of 1956 had not prescribed any such limit. His son will turn 17 in February 2018.
Earlier, the court allowed Kuldeep Singh, son of plea applicant to fill the application form for NEET-UG 2017. However, the court has now dismissed the plea while giving clarity on the age limit.
