Ela Foundation’s Center for Ornithological Study and Research will commence a basic course in ornithology. It is a certificate course that will focus on topics such as bird identification, feeding habits and migration. The course will be offered in Pune from 10th December 2018.
It is a 15-day certificate course running into 40 lectures at Garware College and will be conducted every Monday and Thursday. The course is also recognised by Savitribai Phule University .
Ornithology Course Areas of Study

- Evolution, the ecological role of birds, birds as bio-indicators
- Applied ornithological aspects
- Bird photography, bird call recording, avian diseases, first aid
Apart from this, the course will also cover topics such as bird flu, wind-farms, seabirds and others. It will also include field visits so that participants can study the bird habitats closely and observe birds from a scientific perspective.

Till now, more than 1,000 alumni of the certificate course in ornithology have contributed towards the birds' habitat and their conservation under the mentorship of Ela Foundation.
Ela Foundation makes sure that the courses offered to participants are interactive and the certificate course in ornithology will be conducted by eminent ornithologists of the country. Many students, farmers, doctors, lawyers, educationists, defence service personnel, journalists and others.
