A four-day-long workshop on Modern Age Bamboo Products was held in Odisha recently. Foundation of MSME Cluster (FMC) encouraged the project “Promote Bamboo MSME Clusters for Sustainable Development” funded by the European Union under its initiative of Switch Asia along with its other partners like SIDBI (Small Industries Development Bank of India), CEMCA (Commonwealth Education Media Centre of Asia) and Copenhagen Business School.
FMC joined hands with the three reputed institutes of the state, NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology) Bhubaneswar, Team INSPIRE Bengaluru, and Sri Sri University to organise the workshop. This kind of workshop has been held for the first time where the best institutes in the market came together in collaboration to integrate the students of Design and Architecture along with the highly skilled craftsmen from Odisha, Jharkhand, Assam, and Chattisgarh to develop the modern age Bamboo products.
A total of 13 Master Craftsmen, student start-up and 64 students from Fashion Lifestyle and Accessories Design Department with the guidance of the team of expert from Team INSPIRE worked in a separate team to produce high-quality modern bamboo products in integration with other modern material.

On 2 February, a valedictory session was conducted at the NIFT campus that was graced by the Joint Director of NIFT, Mr. Goutam Saha, GM, Foundation for MSME Clusters, Ms. Sangeeta Agasty, Dean Faculty of Architecture, SSU, Prof. Geeta Vaidyanathan, CC (FL&A), Mr. V. Rajive Harish, Team INSPIRE, Technical Advisor of FMC, Mr. Dillip Kumar Panigrahi, and from Aide et Action, Mr. Saroj Kumar Barik, along with the staff and other students of the institute.

All the dignitaries present at the event appreciated the collaborative effort of NIFT, Team INSPIRE, FMC and SSU. The guests who attended the workshop also felicitated the entrepreneurs, potential start-up participants and master craftsmen.
