Punjab has done exceptionally well in NIRF Rankings 2017 that were released by HRD Ministry on April 3, 2017. A total number of five higher educational institutes from across the state made it to the list of top 100 institutes in the country.

Surprisingly, Guru Nanak Dev University has made it to top 100 universities list but failed to secure a spot in top 100 ‘overall’ list. On the other hand, the state-run Punjab Technical University and Punjabi University failed to secure a rank in any of the categories.
Expressing his happiness, Vice-Chancellor of GADVASU said that the varsity came into existence a decade ago and it has achieved the 50 th rank in universities category. Currently, a total number of 160 scientists are working on 88 research projects in the varsity. He indicated that the university has given more emphasis to research lately, and securing a good NIRF Rank is a big achievement for them. Moreover, he added that the varsity will work more consistently to improve the rank in the coming years.
