In an attempt to promote skill up gradation and creating employment opportunities in the North-east region, The National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) and NIT Silchar , together signed an MoU. The MoU was signed by K Baruah, Director, NIELT Guwahati and AK Barbhuiyan, Registrar, NIT Silchar .
As a part of the MoU, the NIELIT will provide training in skill development in specific areas to youth of the country in the non-formal sectors. Courses will be conducted in the field of Electronics Sector Design Manufacturing (ESDM). NIT Silchar has assured to provide the basic facilities to NIELIT in order to fulfil these objectives.
Director General, NIELIT, Dr. Ashwini Kumar Sharma delivered a speech in the meeting wherein he emphasised the focus on setting up medical electronics repair labs dully funded by DeitY (Department of Electronics and Information Technology), Government of India. “This will provide opportunities to local hospitals and medical colleges in the nearby areas to get their medical equipment maintained/repaired on a very economical price in a time-bound manner. Moreover, this will also provide capacity building of the youth in the medical electronics repair which has got ample job opportunities,” he said.
Addressing the significance of this MoU, Dr. NV Deshpande, Director, NIT Silchar said that the MoU is likely to put the infrastructure of the institute to its adequate usage. He also said that the MoU would help people in general and youths in particular of this region to upgrade their skills and create job opportunities.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from both the institutes.
