The officials of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) were shocked after a fake circular on scrapping of 75% attendance rule became viral of social media platforms. The fake circular had AICTE logo, name and forgery signature of AICTE official. The fake circular also stated that AICTE is planning to implement vocational subjects. AICTE termed the circular as mischievous and misleading. The officials of AICTE have confirmed that they had not issued any circular of suck kind and they urged the students not to believe and spread the fake circular on social media platforms.

AICTE is planning to approach Cyber Crime Cell of Delhi to file a complaint against the fake circular.
The fake circular claimed that the Ministry of Human Resource Development is highly concerned about the declining employability rate of engineering graduates in the country and it has decided to scrap the mandatory 75% attendance rule due to its inability to upgrade the syllabus at par with new technological advancements. The details in the fake circular seemed to be much illogical. The explanation given for scrapping 75% attendance rule is not convincing and AICET officials were shocked with many students believing it and spreading on social media. While AICTE is looking at ways to improve the job prospects of students. In this regard, it proposed an 'Exit Exam' for engineering graduates to assess employability of student .

AICTE will publish official information on engineering courses, colleges, curriculum and syllabus on its official website. Therefore, it urged students not to believe in rumours or speculations. AICTE might be able to figure out the source of origin of fake circular if it lodges a compliant through Cyber Crime Cell.
