There has been a rise in the number of candidates applying to M.Sc, M.Tech and Ph.D. programmes at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar . The number of students applying for these programmes has witnessed a significant improvement in the M.Sc programme by 7%, 15% in M.Tech programme and 95% in the Ph.D. programme.
Apart from this, IIT BBS has taken several initiatives to encourage girl students to pursue higher education. The institute has offered admission to 19 girl students on the supernumerary basis and the strength of the girl students in undergraduate courses has gone up to 55.

Prof Raja Kumar, Director, IIT BBS said that the rise in the number of admissions is very satisfying and increasing the number of female students is very good for the institute. According to him, the institute will introduce more such initiatives which will help in bringing down the number of vacant seats in the coming years.

IIT Bhubaneswar has also introduced two new M.Tech programmes in Cyber Security and Forensics and Data Analytics, Computer Science and Engineering and Machine Intelligence. Many students have shown interest in these courses and have also enrolled for the same. Overall, the institute offers degrees in 11 M.Tech programmes, 6 B.Tech specializations, 9 Dual Degree programmes and 5 M.Sc programmes. It also offers Ph.D. in seven schools.
