Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and Nokia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to use Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science and Analytics to make networks more efficient and reliable. The collaboration will enable IIT Delhi to use Nokia’s expertise and technological leadership in communications networking. IIT Delhi will conduct research in these areas, and come up with networks that are more reliable.

Vice President of Nokia’s Global Service Delivery, Mr. Amit Dhingra pointed that developing new technologies or working on them requires fresh thinking. Working with the scholars of IIT Delhi will enable Nokia to work beyond the limits and make impossible things possible. Future will rely mostly on Artificial Intelligence and Analytics and the collaboration between Nokia and IIT Delhi will develop the necessary skills in these areas, he explained.
Mr. Amit further stated that the networks are turning more complex in the current scenario and there is a rapid growth in the data use. At this juncture, addressing quality-related and efficiency challenges will boost network performance and make services real-time, he highlighted.

Through this MoU, IIT Delhi research scholars from computer science, statistics and mathematics fields will work with Nokia to develop software modules, which will be based on machine learning, Artificial Intelligence algorithms, predictive analytics and deep learning. Through this, IIT Delhi will develop new capabilities in advanced technologies. The collaboration between Nokia and IIT Delhi will provide a great exposure to the students and will allow them to put theoretical topics to practical use.
