Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dibrugarh University, Assam to strengthen industry-academia linkage through mutual collaboration. The MoU has been signed between A K Bhattacharya, General Manager (HR) of NRL and M N Dutta, Registrar of Dibrugarh University (DU).
The MoU would benefit both DU and NRL and help them to foster a closer relationship. It would promote mutual interests including sharing of knowledge and information through studies and interactions and organising joint events.

The MoU will help NRL & DU to identify areas of interdisciplinary research activities. The primary objective is to promote the socially and ecologically relevant fields for the development of the region.
Numaligarh Refinery Limited is located at Morangi, Assam. It is a joint venture between Oil India, Bharath Petroleum and Government of Assam. Mr. Padmanabhan is the present Managing Director of NRL.
Dibrugarh University was established in the year 1965 under Dibrugarh University Act, 1965 passed by the Assam Legislative Assembly. DU is a teaching-cum-affiliating university with limited residential facilities. DU was accredited with ‘B’ grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in the year 2002. It was reaccredited in the year 2009.

DU is a member of Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) & Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The varsity has a campus which spread over 500 acres out of which 60 acres are under tea plantations. The varsity offers a broad range of courses in Engineering and Technology as well as Management. The university also has a separate Centre for Computer Studies & Juridical Studies.
