The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) announced the Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP) for the academic session 2023-24 across the country in 57 Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs). Under NEP 2020, this is a flagship program.

As per the notification released on October 26, 2021, ITEP is a 4 year dual major holistic undergraduate degree program, which offers B.A B.Ed/ B.Sc B.Ed and B.Com B.Ed. Through this program, ITEP course will prepare teachers for 4 stages new school structure, such as Foundational, Preparatory, Middle, and Secondary (5+3+3+4). Initially, the program will be offered in the pilot mode in the reputed Central/ State Government Universities/ Institutions.

ITEP program will be available for all the students who choose teaching as a profession (by profession) after secondary.

The Integrated course will be beneficial for the students who will save one year to finish the course instead of the customary 5 years by the present B.Ed plan. Note that the admission to ITEP program will be conducted through the National Common Entrance Test (NCET) by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

ITEP will not only impart cutting-edge pedagogy, however, will establish a foundation in early childhood care and education (ECCE), foundational literacy, and numeracy (FLN), including the education and an understanding of India and its values/ ethos/ traditions/ art, among the others.

ITEP course aims to contribute to the substantial revitalization of the whole reacher education sector. The prospective teachers, who will pass out the course through a multi-disciplinary environment, grounded in Indian values and traditions, will be instilled with the needs of 21st-century global standards. Therefore, the teachers can shape the future of New India.
