The OP Jindal University has signed an MoU with the Union Ministry of Education on 29th October 2020. The varsity has been conferred the status of an institution of eminence. Last year, the UGC has selected The OP Jindal University along with 13 other prestigious higher education institutions for the IoE or Institutions of Eminence status. For the official announcement and confirmation, the varsity is yet to fulfil certain procedural and legislative requirements.
The Vice-Chancellor of the OP Jindal University, C Raj Kumar, made a statement and said that the university has entered into India’s own ‘Ivy League’ by getting the Institution of Eminence tag. The founding chancellor of the university, Naveen Jindal was delighted and considered it as an incredible recognition for JGU. He further called it a great tribute to all the excellent achievements of the university.

A review meeting was conducted under the chairmanship of education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ following which the OP Jindal University was awarded the official letter from the ministry.
C. Raj Kumar said that on the establishment of the OP Jindal University, the goal was pretty simple. The objective was to build a world-class university in India. He mentioned that the university has received this recognition in little over a decade and also praised the extraordinary contributions made by the faculty members, students and staff of JGU.

The Institution of Eminence status provided by the Union Ministry of Education will grant full autonomy and unshackle all the regulatory controls. The IoE policy was launched to empower higher educational institutions and universities. It was brought into the picture to implement the commitment of the union government and help the educational institutes to become world-class research/ teaching institutions.
