Osmania University (OU) has completed the automation process to digitalise varsity’s data and records. Now, the entire information pertaining to students, teaching and non-teaching staff of OU is accessible at a click. Some of the significant details like students strength in each department, number of students in hostels, faculty strength and their publications, data pertaining to infrastructure, details of non-teaching staff, fee structure for various courses and results are now available on the servers of varsity.
As a part of the digitalization process , the varsity has made some of the important information like students, teaching and non-teaching strength available on the public domain. On the other hand, confidential data such as medical history, marks and other personal details are accessible only to the officials of the varsity.

With an aim to implement New Information System , the varsity has set up a big data centre at Central Facilities for Research and Development on the Osmania University campus. In the first phase, the varsity will include eight university colleges in the New Information System. In the subsequent phases, the varsity will include its constituent colleges across the state in the new system.

Vice Chancellor of OU, Professor Ramachandram revealed that the automation process is underway and will take another six months to implement the New Information System on the full scale. The new system will help the varsity authorities to retrieve information accurately. On the other hand, it also helps in weeding out non-boarders in the varsity hostels. The new system will also provide information about the number of research papers published by the faculty members, he explained.
