National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has granted Osmania University with ‘A+’ grade. A team from NAAC visited the varsity last month for the Third Cycle of Assessment which comprised of nine members from August 17 to August 19, 2017.
The grade was decided at the 27 th Standing Committee meeting of NAAC on September 12, 2017, after an assessment based on seven categories. Osmania University has scored 3.52 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). The officials of the varsity hoped for A++ grade from NAAC but managed to bag a grade lower than their expectations.

In 2008, Osmania University was accorded with ‘A’ grade by NAAC which expired in February 2013. The varsity has now managed to secure NAAC accreditation after four years.
Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) Hyderabad and Kakatiya University (Warangal) has also been accorded with ‘A’ grade from NAAC in the second cycle. JNTU Hyderabad has scored a CPGA of 3.01.

Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister of Telangana, Mr. Kadiyam Srihari congratulated the officials of Osmania University, JNTU Hyderabad and Kakatiya University for securing ‘A+’ and ‘A’ grades from NAAC. He indicated that the varsities must focus on improving the grades in the next cycle. Varsities must also try to lay emphasis on research apart from focusing on developing infrastructure and imparting quality education, he added.
