Osmania University is all set to revamp the syllabus for UG courses . According to sources, the varsity is trying to revamp at least 20% of existing syllabus. At present, the officials are coordinating with Telangana State Council for Higher Education (TSCHE) for revamping the Osmania University UG syllabus. The changes in the syllabus will be at par with model curriculum issued by UGC (University Grants Commission).
UGC has already issued a framework and made suggestions to revamp the curriculum to all the universities across the country. The new syllabus will majorly focus on industry-related skills, spoken and communication skills.

Earlier, Osmania University convened a series of meetings with degree colleges across Telangana to make changes in the existing syllabus for UG courses. As per UGC rules, OU will implement CBCS (Choice Based Credit System) in UG courses.
The CBCS system will help the students to choose courses from the elective, core or skill-based courses. For students, core courses are compulsory, while elective courses can be chosen from the pool of courses available.

The state universities and TSCHE have reworked on the content of UG courses to suit the CBCS. Vice Chancellor of Osmania University, Professor Ramchandram revealed that the process of revamping the UG courses had begun. Even though the varsity has autonomy to frame its own syllabus, the model curriculum of UGC will be taken into consideration.
The new syllabus for UG will come into effect from the academic session 2018-19. All the colleges affiliated to Osmania University will have to follow the new syllabus.
