After sufficient planning and preparation, Panjab University is ready to launch its ‘Oral History Project’. It is one of the significant initiatives of the university that will be inaugurated by VP Singh Badnore, Governor of Governor.
Prof Rajesh Kochhar is the administrator and editor of the website. It comprises a brief history of Panjab University of the phase 1947-1958 i.e. prior to its migration to Chandigarh.

The university is initially working to publish the reminiscences of three persons who are prevalent in their own fields and were awarded degrees in the mid-1950s.
Various rare photographs from the personal collection of the authors are also being published on the website. Panjab University began as a refugee university almost 70 years ago and struggled for its existence for the first decade.
Accounting the need to recognize the importance of Oral history, the university has launched this initiative to preserve the official history. This will allow the website to record the perspectives of different people that are not recorded.
Oral history will provide an opportunity to record various unrecognized events that are not present in the official history. These events prove to be helpful in placing official facts in perspective and evolves a history based on human experience.

This initiative will also enable the university to spread awareness about their heritage and encourage everyone associated with the university to preserve old documents and other important collections that might prove to be useful for the recollection of the University’s history.
