The Senate of Panjab University is going to give an opportunity to the students who have completed the first semester and could not continue into the second semester. According to the official information, these students will be directly admitted into the second semester. The recommendation was made by the Standing Committee which was constituted by Vice Chancellor, Arun Kumar Gover. The discussions regarding Undergraduate semester system will be taken up at a Senate meeting on October 9, 2016.

The members of Standing Committee mentioned that the candidates who were enrolled in the first semester and could not get admission in the second semester due to some unavoidable reasons would be allowed to take direct admission in the second semester. As per the current rules, the students are allowed to take admission only in the first semester.

The Committee also mentioned that the students would be granted admission only if he/she has a minimum of 75% of attendance in the first semester and has appeared in the first semester examination. However, the period in which the student has to get admission will be decided in the Senate meeting.
The Committee also recommended that the practical examinations should be conducted at the end of 2nd, 4th and 6th semester so that the number of teaching days in each semester would increase.
