The scholars presented ten presentations on the second last day of the 5 day international conference, at Asian Research Development Institute on the theme ‘Development and Growth: Experience and Theories’. A 5 day conference is held on accounts of the silver jubilee celebrations at Patna.
Ashmita Gupta, a post-doctoral fellow of Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Chennai gave a speech on the topic ‘of Trade Liberalisation on Gender Inequality: The Case of India’ the episode of Indian trade liberalization how it impacted on women adversely in terms of the employment rates. She also said that the trade liberalisation had led to a growth in gender inequality in the manufacturing sector. Skill upgrading and Increased working hours of the production process are a few of the possible channels.
