A parliamentary committee has requested to the Central government to help the students to set up state legal academics which facilitate the advocates/lawyers to keep abreast with emerging trends in the legal profession.

A Parliamentary Standing Committee in the Rajya Sabha said that the central government might encourage all the states to establish advocates academy to provide training for the advocates for an independent and integrated judiciary as prescribed under Constitution of India.

The committee has urged that the central government has to give funds to the states for this purpose. The standing committee mentioned that academies must provide research assistance to all the young advocates/lawyers to keep them up to date with the emerging trends in engineering. The academies can organise guest lectures by the senior members of Bar Council regarding latest rulings of Supreme Court and High Courts.
Various law colleges and universities are offering Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in law courses across different states of the country.
