Shortage of faculty positions in various higher learning institutes is one of the major concerns of the government. Earlier, HRD Minister Javadekar urged the students to take up teaching as a profession to address the issue. He was of the opinion that the varsities shall also indulge in encouraging more research scholars to start teaching students.
At present, in many varsities, there are no permanent faculty members. Most of the government colleges across the country have been functioning with temporary or contractual faculty members.
It is time for the government to speed up the process of faculty recruitment in higher learning institutes.
