Following the order of High Court, Gauhati University has postponed all the PG entrance examinations. The entrance exams for various postgraduate courses were to begin from July 20, 2017. However, few aspirants approached High Court against the selection process of the varsity for the admission to PG courses. In response, the High Court ordered a stay on the entrance examinations. Now, the varsity has to wait until the final decision is out. The varsity must also revise the admission schedule. The Admission Committee of the varsity convened a meeting on July 17, 2017, and clarified that all the entrance exams for PG courses are cancelled for the time being.

VC of Gauhati University advised the students to check the official website regularly for an update on entrance examinations. According to the previous schedule, the admission process was to take place on July 28 & July 29, 2017. The classes were scheduled to begin from August 1, 2017. There is no clarity whether there will be a change in these dates. The aspirants need to wait for a couple of days for the latest update.

On the other hand, the varsity has made all the arrangements for B.Tech admission process. The admission counselling will begin on July 19, 2017. The venue for the counselling is Institute of Science and Technology, Gauhati University. The admission process will take place for all the specialisations in B.Tech course offered by the varsity. The candidates must attend the counselling process as per schedule with all the relevant documents or certificates.
