Rajnibhai V Patel Trust, CSR wing of Troikaa Pharmaceuticals Ltd. has recently organised an event to award the post graduate and doctorate thesis of pharmacy students from across the nation for their innovative approach in the field of pharmaceutical.
A total 233 students from 175 colleges and universities across India participated in the competition during year 2014-15 and 15-16 from places like Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Mumbai, Thiruvananthapuram, Mohali, Hyderabad ect.
The panel of jury comprised subject experts from different parts of India who performed point rating evaluation of all nomination and chose the most innovative thesis for the prestigious award.
M J Akbar, MP of Rajya Sabha was the chief guest of the function, whereas the guest of honor of the event was Pradyumma Vyas, director-National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad and member secretary-India Design Council. The event was attended by the students and teachers from pharmacy college, pharma industry, doctors and officials from government department.
The trust has given an amount of Rs. 9,90,000 as cash prize to all the winners of year 2014-15 and 2015-16 along with a trophy and certificate. The award was sponsored by Troikaa Pharmaceuticals Ltd. under patronage of Department of Science & Technology, government of India. L M College of Pharmacy was the coordinator of the event.
Talking about importance of innovative thinking, Akbar said thinking presumes something very important and helps in taking accurate decision. Thinking creates questions, which are more creative than the answer, because without innovative questions we cannot go anywhere.
Sighting the importance of innovation in a developing nation like India, Vyas said “we need to harness the creative potential of youth, nurture it and take it forward and focus on creating multi-disciplinary innovation. For this point of views of different stake holders of society must be considered and with working together we must focus on co-creating products”. He added that failures will come during innovation, but we must take it forward with sincere efforts as there are no short cuts in life.
Ketan R Patel, CMD- Troikaa Pharmaceuticals Ltd. while expressing his views on the immense potential in Indian Pharmaceutical sector said, “The Indian Pharmaceutical industry can move to the next level through development of innovative products. The quest for innovation has to inculcated in the scholars of Pharmaceutical sciences, who are the scientists of tomorrow.”
Under the existing academic system in India, research has just become a mere formality lacking scope of innovation. R V Patel PharmInnova Award is a part of an initiative to break free from this practice and encourage students to develop scientific temper and do genuine effort to create knowledge through new quality innovations.
