Prime Minister of India, Shri. Narendra Modi inaugurated the newly constructed campus at Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University on June 20, 2017. Since its inception, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University did not have a permanent campus, and it functioned from IET Campus. The newly constructed campus is spread over 30 acres, the construction of which began in 2011. However, there were various hurdles in the construction process due to the land issue of farmers. The construction work of the new campus resumed in 2016 after Vice Chancellor Vinay Pathak assumed charge. Former Chief Minister of the state, Mr. Akhilesh Yadav laid the foundation stone for the campus.
The total expenditure incurred for the construction of the campus was Rs. 194.72 crore. The state government incurred additional funds of Rs. 17.14 crore for the construction of Kalam Memorial Centre.

The Vice Chancellor stated that the varsity would set up a Centre for Advanced Studies to start Masters and Ph.D. programme in various disciplines. The Centre for Advanced Studies will be functional from July 2017. The necessary arrangements for the same are underway.
He also inaugurated the Central Drugs Research Institute (CRDI), Lucknow. As a part of the inauguration, the honourable Prime Minister planted a sapling at the campus. Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Yogi Adityanath and Governor, Mr. Rasm Naik, were also present during the inauguration ceremony.

As a part of International Yoga Day today, i.e. 21st June, Mr. Modi will flag off the celebrations by performing Yoga along with the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and other 51,000 participants at Ramabhai Ambedkar Sabha Sthal, Lucknow.
