The Indian Institue of Management - IIM Indore has joined hands with the Indore city Traffic Police Department and bestowed a report on improving traffic conditions in the city as a mission to remain a contextually-relevant B-School and develop socially conscious leaders and managers. An official statement from IIM Indore said that Professor Himanshu Rai who is the Director, IIM Indore led the research team of the institute along with Prof Rajhans Mishra and Prof Saurabh Chandra, Faculty Members of IIM Indore.
The research was started earlier in January 2019 through extensive inspection and surveys at all the traffic signals of the city. The study report was submitted to the ADG, Mr Varun Kapoor on 9th April 2019.
With an aim to impose more strict penalties for the traffic rule breaches, The Lok Sabha passed a New Motor Vehicle Amendment Bill on July 23, 2019. This is an amendment to the previous Motor Vehicle Act, 1988.

The statement said that IIM Indore focuses on studying the issues and suggesting solutions to the difficulties and also executing the rules & regulations in the Institute as well. The statement also added that IIM Indore assures that all the suggestions provided by the research team in the report are observed on the campus without exception. The Institute also plans to collaborate with government department and organizations and to initiate ideas by carrying out research-for improving the life quality of the society and nation.
