Examination for the first year of Applied Physics at Government Polytechnic institutions in the state was cancelled on Friday after the question paper was leaked on social media.
The examination was cancelled just an hour before it was to begin. Officials of Uttar Pradesh technical department found the question paper leaked on WhatsApp was the original one. More than 1 lakh students at 240 centres across the state were to take the examination.
“We found that the leakage was fairly large, in terms of number, and hence decided to cancel the examination in the interest of the students,“ said principal secretary , technical education, Mukul Singhal.
“We have lodged an FIR at Hussainganj police station and have ordered an inquiry . We regret the inconvenience caused to the students. A three-member committee has been formed to probe the matter and submit a detail report in a week,“ he said.
All polytechnic institutes have been directed not to open the sealed question paper packet of the applied physics examination and are directed to send it to the department on May 14. The new date of the examination will be announced soon by the department.
