Pondicherry University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) along with the Université Paris-Est Créteil (UPEC), France on 14th December 2018 for research and academic initiatives.
With this collaboration, Pondicherry University becomes the first Indian partner of UPEC. The pact signed by the two universities will facilitate faculty exchange, student exchange, and jointly organised events and research.
Professor Gurmeet Singh, who is a Vice Chancellor of the Pondicherry University, said that the collaboration between Pondicherry University (PU) and French University (UPEC) will build the long-standing relationship between Pondicherry and France. He also talked about the importance of such tie-ups in creating an academic and research set-up of international standard in the Pondicherry University.

Vice President for International Affairs, Dr. Laurent Thevenet, further highlighted that Université Paris-Est Créteil (UPEC) is one of the most comprehensive and inclusive universities in France that attracts 30,000 students including 3,000 international students every year.

Professor Balakrishnan, who is the Director of Studies, Educational Innovations and Rural Reconstruction, Professor Rajeev Jain, the Director of Culture & Cultural Relations, Education and Dr. Sasikanta Dash, Registrar who signed the MoU on behalf of Pondicherry University, Sri K. Mahesh, PRO, Mr. A.K.Prakash, Finance Officer Professors of various departments teaching Science and Management programmes were all present at the MoU signing ceremony.
