Union Minister of Human Resource and Development, Prakash Javadekar will be attending the convocation ceremony of Patna University on October 27, 2016. Around 1,000 students will be conferred postgraduate and doctorate degrees at the convocation.

RK Mandal, Controller of Examinations, Patna University said that the last convocation was held two months ago and to clear the backlog the university is holding the convocation for the candidates who have passed postgraduate and doctorate examinations in December 2015. He mentioned that the candidates who are desirous of getting degrees have to register themselves on or before October 15, 2016.

Around 41 merit students of different postgraduation courses will be awarded gold medals by the chief guest.
Patna University is the seventh oldest university of the Indian subcontinent which was established in the year 1917. It is the first university in Bihar. Most of the university buildings are located on the bank of River Ganges and in the Saidpur Campus. A total number of 10 colleges are affiliated to Patna University. It has 30 departments which are organised into eight faculties. The Central Library at Patna University consists of 4,00,000 volumes which include textbooks, reference books and others.
