The School of Public Policy at IIT Delhi is currently in the process of hiring its first batch of faculty. And the courses introduced by the institute are all related to areas such as digital information and society, internet, energy and environment, industry and economy, food, agriculture, and water, among others.
Ambuj Sagar, Head of the School for Public Policy, says that there are already thousands of research projects underway in IIT-Delhi. The plan is to integrate these projects with public policymaking.
From the next academic session, there would probably be some elective courses and short duration courses in policy making for UG students and also some full-time courses for PG students, according to Sagar.
Meanwhile, students pursuing their PhD at the institute will start working in the area from this year only,” Sagar said.

According to Sagar, the school will eventually become a 'world-class hub' for research in public policy making, which will have a more significant and direct social impact. Sagar says that this entire effort on the academic front is expected to provide immense help to policymakers of the government agencies as well as business enterprises.
For this purpose, the institution has collaborated with TATA Trust, which already has a long history of working in the field of public research and policy-making in the country.
