Commuters facing traffic congestion daily around the trisection of National PG College lucknow can expect relief from June as PWD plans to widen the trisection by shifting the college playground's wall inwards by almost five metres.
PWD has recently sanctioned a sum of Rs 35 lakh to widen the trisection to help commuters on Rana Pratap Marg and the road leading to Nishatganj bridge along Gomti banks.
PWD officials said the area gets highly congested route during peak hours because of presence of two prominent colleges La Martiniere Girls College and National PG College, many government offices, hotels, commercial lawns and a popular mall in the vicinity. The trisection was too narrow to hold the traffic during peak hours resulting in long traffic jams.
Officials said, “Boundary wall of National PG College's playground on left hand side will be shifted about 5 metre inwards to make way for smooth vehicular movement (near Moti Mahal lawns) “ PWD aims to complete the work by June 2016. It has sought permission from forest and electricity departments for shifting of trees and electricity poles along the underconstruction route.
The National PG College is situated on the bank of river Gomti. The college has lush green surroundings. National Post Graduate College is the only autonomous college of Lucknow University.
