Today i.e. 20th July’ 16 QS Quacquarelli who is a higher education analyst at global level announced the list of best universities in BRIC nations. He is also the marshal of the QS World University Rankings and the announcing rankings is an annual exercise.
BRIC nation is a group comprising following countries:
- Brazil
- China
- India
- Russia
This year, India performed a little better than last year. India was able to own 17.6 percent of the list, it is an increase of 1.1 percent than last year.
This year the total number of colleges in the list was also increased from 200 to 250 and India managed to land 8 spots in the top 50. IISC Bangalore bagged 6th position in the list.
Head of research at QS, Ben Sowter said that the new strategy has been good for India and their success is primarily based on the research excellence.
He also mentioned that the research output of India is very good and that is why India was able to score 90 or above in the citations per paper indicator. 21 Institutes of India scored full i.e. 100 marks in the section of hiring staff with PhD qualification.
