Railways IBPS, SSC Common Eligibility Test

The National Recruitment Agency will start conducting the online test for a select category of government jobs from September. The central government has established National Recruitment Agency to streamline the recruitment process in India. The agency will organise a common entrance test for the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) and the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) and the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB). The main objective behind the introduction of CET is to eliminate multiple tests.

RRB IBPS SSC Admission Process

Most likely, NRA will conduct CET from September 2021 onwards. The agency will only conduct a preliminary screening of candidates. The final selection of the candidate will be done through the domain-specific tests and the same will be conducted by the respective agencies such as RRBPs, IBPs, and SSC. National Recruitment Agency will identify language experts to translate the question paper in all regional languages included in the 8th schedule of Constitution, as per requirement and subject to an adequate number of candidates opting to take the test in the regional language.

RRB IBPS and SSC CET Guidelines

  • NRA will only conduct the preliminary examinations for Group-B (non-gazetted), Group-C (non-technical), and clerical posts in the government along with various equivalent recruitment in public sector banks.
  • There will be a separate CET each for the three levels of graduate, higher secondary (12th pass), and the matriculate (10th pass) candidates.
  • Based on the screening done at the CET score level, the final selection will be done on the basis of separate specialized tiers of examination which will be organised by the respective recruitment agencies.
  • The score of CET will be valid for three years and there will be no restriction on the number of attempts for the candidates to appear in the CET subject to the upper age limit.
  • The NRA will set up examination centers in every district of the country.
