Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur was ecstatic after President of India Shri. Pranab Mukherjee renominated Mr. Sanjiv Goenka as the Chairman of Board of Governors (IIT Kharagpur). Mr. Sanjiv will hold office for another three years. Director of IIT Kharagpur, Prof. Chakrabarti revealed that they felt delightful after hearing the news, and the institute is looking forward reaching greater heights under the guidance of Mr. Sanjiv Goenka. The reappointment of Mr. Sanjiv is extremely encouraging.
Mr. Sanjiv Goenka served IIT Kharagpur as the Chairman from 2002-07. The headquarters of Goenka group is located in Kolkata, and it is extremely famous in media & entertainment, power, retail, carbon black and others.

Another major development is the proposal of Mr. Anil Kakodar, a famous nuclear scientist as the Chairman of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee by HRD Ministry. Currently, the proposal is under review, and President of India will take the final decision. Earlier, Mr. Anil Kakodar served as the Chairman of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay . He resigned the post in 2015. HRD Ministry had consulted Mr. Anil Kakodar before recommending his name for the Chairman of Board of Governors (IIT Roorkee).

IIT Kharagpur is planning to hire Doctoral and Post-Doctoral Fellows from United States (US) as the faculty members of the institute. For this purpose, a team has been constituted to visit renowned universities across the US and invite Doctoral & Post-Doctoral Fellows to become a part of IIT Kharagpur.
