The auspicious occasion of Saraswati Puja was celebrated across the state on Sunday, February 13, 2016 wherein students from various schools and colleges dressed in beautiful attire, performed puja seeking the divine help of goddess of learning. Schools, colleges and universities organised grand events to celebrate the divine occasion.
Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi visited several colleges in Guwahati to mark the occasion and shared the joy of the festival with the students. Among some of these colleges are Cotton College , B Barooah College and Handique College etc.
“I hope that with the divine blessings of the Goddess, our students would be able to achieve their goals as well as would contribute to the overall development of the State and society. May the spiritual atmosphere of Saraswati Puja encourage all the students to excel in their respective fields,” said the Chief Minister.
The festival was celebrated with traditional flavour across the city this year too. Dressed in their best, youngsters visited their colleges and offered puja whole heartedly. Several pandals were set-up in colleges and different localities where Khichri was served to the students and visitors.
Ratnadwip Das, a HS student in B Barooah College in Guwahati said, “the blessing of the goddess would give us strength to march towards the advancement of knowledge.”
