Saurashtra University has cancelled B.Sc semester-V chemistry examination after the question paper of the examination was allegedly leaked. The question paper was circulated on social media before the commencement of the examination on October 17, 2016. The police has detained a person in the evening who involved in this leak.
The copies of question paper started to circulate on social media platform around 9.30 AM. The examination was scheduled to commence at 10.30 AM. The issue came to light when a local news channel started to flash the news. The authorities of SU confirmed that the leaked paper was the one administered for the students.

After the confirmation, the varsity approached the police. Sanjay Bhayani, in-charge VC of SU explained that the leak had been notified by a news channel and some of the professors of SU that the copies of question paper were being circulated on social media. The leaked question paper resembled the original question paper. Hence, the exam was cancelled and was rescheduled for October 21, 2016.
He also stated that the university dispatched the question papers an hour before the commencement of examination and it is not clear that who was involved in this leak.
This has been the third incident in the past three years. The question paper of B.Com examination was leaked in April 2014, and three students were arrested.
