School Holiday Declared in Patna until January 20: The District Magistrate of Patna has released one notice for extending the closure of schools till January 20, 2024. Due to the high persisting cold wave across the region, the schools, up to Class 8 will be closed till the said date so that the school-goers do not suffer from any probable health risk. The order has already been forwarded to several officials. A similar order has also been issued by the East Champaran district magistrate, Saurabh Jorwal regarding the closure of govt and private schools up to class 8 till January 20 and the Anganwadi centres till January 16, 2024.
As per the notice, under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1973, all the Govt. and private schools of Patna (both pre-school and Anganwadi) should extend the ban on educational activities till January 20, 2024. In addition, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) assumes that the severity of the cold wave and dense fog will be higher in the next few days in Northern India including Bihar. Already, Patna has witnessed the season’s lowest temperature at 4.9 degrees Celsius. Also, the mercury level has dropped below 10 degrees Celcius across several districts. As per the forecast, the minimum temperature will remain between 9 to 12 degrees Celcius in the next few days. Consequently, the school timings for the higher classes have also been rescheduled.
As per the circular, the higher classes that is from class 8 to 12 will be taken from 11 am to 3 pm, instead of 9 am to 5 pm. Considering the students’ health, the decision has been taken, Note, that the special classes for the board exams are not included under this regulation. Also, the non-teaching staff, principals, and the rest of the teachers should present at the usual time, that is from 9 am to 5 pm.
