According to the media reports, a total of 23,780 students took admissions in the Delhi University affiliated colleges under the first 2019 cutoff released by DU. In exact figures, the numbers accounted for 38.35% of DU admissions. Comparing the previous years’ cutoff, the records only showed 25% admissions in 2018 on the first cutoff issued by DU.
Most of the popular colleges of Delhi University including Hindu College , Shri Ram College , Lady Shri Ram College , Kirorimal College and many more have released their cutoff on 3rd July as the admission depending on the first cutoff concluded and the university will now take admissions depending on the second cutoff.
The reports from the university officials suggest that DU affiliated colleges this year have taken more students on board than the available seat capacity. In Hindu College, the B.A. Political Science stream saw the highest cutoff of 99% marks, yet, a total of 1000 students were admitted in the college where the seat availability is just 827. Similarly in Lady Shri Ram College, against 861 seats, a total of 1000 students were granted admission in the college for B.A. (Hons) English Course.
To meet the cutoffs, Delhi University this year is relying on over-admissions, however, the second cutoff is expected to have around 0.5 to 1.0 % relief for all the prime colleges of DU.
