The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) for admission to Post-Graduate Programme (One Year LL.M. Course) was conducted on 14th May, 2017.
Those who qualify go through online centralised counselling conducted by CLAT Office for admission to PG programmes offered at participating universities under CLAT-2017. Online counselling process begins following the announcement of CLAT-2017 results.
Candidates will be allotted seats basis ‘merit-cum-preference,’ which means taking into account candidates' CLAT rank and order of preference given in his/her CLAT application form.
The entire counselling process will be held as per CLAT scehdule mentioned on the official website of CLAT.
The detailed selection process adopted by CLAT Office following after result announcement is as follows:
STEP 1
Once the results are out, the University-wise First Indicative List based on merit-cum-preference will be published on the official CLAT website.
STEP 2
- Provisionally selected candidates are required to deposit a counselling fee of Rs. 50,000/- with CLAT-2017 Office to reserve seats available at participating NLUs.
- The adjustable counselling fee will be transferred to the respective participating NLUs where the candidate finally gets admission.
STEP 3
- A second allotment list of candidates who have paid their counselling fee and reserved their seats in the participating NLUs will be published.
- Along with the second list, a list carrying names of waitlisted candidates who are provisionally selected against dropped out candidates will also be published.
- These applicants also have to pay the requisite counselling fee to reserve their seats in the participating NLUs within the prescribed time period mentioned in CLAT-2017 calendar.
STEP 4
- A comprehensive third allotment list of candidates who have paid the requisite counselling fee and reserved their seats will be released.
- The list includes candidates'names who have paid the counselling fee against the first and second indicative lists.
- Along with the third allotment list, a list of waitlisted candidates who are provisionally selected against the dropped out candidates will be published.
- These waitlisted candidates have to deposit the counselling fee and reserve their seats within the prescribed time period.
STEP 5
- The provisionally selected candidates who wish to withdraw from the admission process can do so within stipulated time. In that case, nominal fee of Rs. 10,000/- will be deducted from the counselling fee deposited by the candidates.
- If a candidate wishes to withdraw from the admission process post the stipulated period (as per CLAT 2017 calendar), his/her entire amount of the counselling fee of Rs. 50,000/- will be forfeited.
- A comprehensive fourth allotment list of candidates who have paid their counselling fee and reserved their seats will be released. The list shall include candidates who have paid the counselling fee against the first, second and third indicative lists.
- Those who are mentioned in the fourth list and have not paid deposited the counselling fee will have to deposit the amount to the allotted NLUs at the time of admission.
STEP 6
- Once the final allottment of seats is done, candidates will have to desposit the balance amount towards the admission at the allotted NLU.
- To complete admission formalities, the candidates must carry relevant certificates/documents in original when reporting at the allotted institute.
- Those who fail to complete the admission formalities after the declaration of CLAT merit list will automatically lose their claim for admission and their entire amount of the counselling fee will also be forfeited.
