Earlier, Lok Sabha informed that the post of the directors is vacant in 13 IIMs. In some of the IIMs, the tenure of the outgoing director has been extended until the appointment of a new director. Similarly, in some IIMs the senior professor of the institute has been given an additional charge.
The government is emphasising on improving global rankings and that is unlikely to happen if it does not have a proper administration working towards the objectives and vision of IIMs. Hence, it is important that the recruitment of directors at these premier institutions takes a priority.
