Visual disability has turned out to be no bar for six students of Himachal Pradesh who cracked CBSE UGC NET 2018 exam . These students are pursuing various courses at Himachal Pradesh University (HPU). The UGC NET 2018 results were out on July 31, 2018, and this the first time that six visually impaired students from HPU cleared UGC NET.
Nodal Office for Disability Affairs, Mr. Ajay Srivastava revealed that five visually impaired boys and a girl from HPU cleared UGC NET 2018 in different subjects. The following is the list of visually impaired students who cleared UGC NET 2018 from HPU: -

Among these students, Muskan Thakur is a budding singer, who was also declared as a ‘Youth Icon’ of the election commission during the last year’s assembly election.
Mr. Ajay Srivastava mentioned that the varsity has been offering free education to differently abled students since 2015. At present, 50 differently abled including 12 visually impaired students are pursuing various courses at HPU.

UGC NET is one of the toughest exams conducted to determine the eligibility for the post of assistant professor and Junior Research Fellow (JRF). This year, close to 8,00,000 candidates appeared for UGC NET and only 55,000 (approximately) candidates were able to clear the exam.
