With an aim to produce skilled graduates with diverse interests, the Telangana Collegiate and Technical Education Department is all set to introduce additional subjects to make the curriculum more outcome-based. The additional courses will be introduced in professional technical courses such as B.Tech, Diploma in Engineering, degree courses and others. These courses will be skill-oriented that will be an additional advantage to the students. Already, MOOCs have been made mandatory for university and colleges students in Telangana.
The initiative of the Collegiate and Technical Education Department will create diverse skills and interests among graduate students. These courses are set to have subjects like communication and fine arts, which the students can explore besides regular subjects. These courses will also focus on developing soft skills in students.

Commissioner of the Collegiate and Technical Education Department, Mr. Navin Mittal suggested that students would have the liberty to choose cross-disciplinary subjects such as information technology essentials, technical writing, liberal arts, life skills, interview and group discussion skills. Interview and Group discussion are the subjects are not currently in the primary framework, but are likely to be added in near future, he explained.

From the upcoming academic year, students in their respective streams will be allotted 3-4 slots from which they can choose skill-oriented courses. So far, students did not have the flexibility to choose courses.
