With an objective to help the differently-abled, social activities body of Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay will organise 'Abhyuday 2017', a two-day festival. The main objective for holding the social festival is to celebrate the people with disabilities. This year, the theme of 'Abhyuday' is 'I am not disabled, I am differently abled'. The social festival will take place on January 21 & 22, 2017. This year, there will be no celebrity attending the social fest.

Abhyuday 2017 will have various events ranging from talks by retired army captains to workshops and cultural events. Various cultural events are lined up which include dance, drama and music which will be performed by differently-abled. The major highlight of the event is Sukriti and Kathak performance by differently-abled.

Professors of Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay will organise a lecture panel on technological aid for differently-abled. They will also hold discussions on Assistive Technology as well as mega R&D projects for blind people.
The event will also focus on some of the personalities who are playing a vital role in serving differently-abled people and making key contributions. They are: -
- Prof. Sandeep Desai, who interacts with people by travelling on trains and raises funds to run English medium schools particularly for underprivileged children living in rural areas of Rajasthan and Maharashtra.
- Praveen Tyagi who offers free coaching to 50 girls who are selected from the countryside and villages of Maharashtra.
- Dr. Subodh Kumar, a famous plastic surgeon who changed the lives of many who are born with cleft lips.
