Due to the ongoing coronavirus lockdown, many universities/colleges/institutes across the world have moved to online classroom teaching , and many of the universities are making the best use of the available technologies. Amid all this, SP Jain School of Global Management has become a pioneer by using its in-house developed Engaged Learning Online (ELO) Technology. ELO was developed in late 2018 and the idea was to make the internationally recognised MBA offered by SP Jain accessible to the working professionals who cannot pursue an on-campus course.

This high-end online learning system was developed to meet the need for good quality and customised online education. SP Jain’s ELO models a live classroom as the studio is equipped with a robotic tracking camera for the faculty which enables them to maintain eye contact with the students, move freely, respond to visual cues, moderate discussions in real-time. Faculty members and the students can also have one-on-one sessions and through ELO, the faculty members can also check the students’ level of engagement and figure out ways to keep them motivated. It also encourages those students who are not able to take part in the on-campus classroom discussions. Harvard’s HBX also works along similar lines. So far, more than 2,000 students from 20 nations have been able to experience the ELO technology and their experience has been great, Nitish Jain, SP Jain President said.
He also said while drawing a comparison between ELO and other video conferencing software that ELO’s focus is more on student engagement. And, he also wanted the students to continue studying by experiencing the engagement and dynamism of an SP Jain classroom even now in the wake of the COVID-19 impact.
